UK STUDENTS

UK STUDENTS

UK applicants should apply online via UCAS.

Applications for 2023 entry can be submitted from 6 September 2022 and the deadline is 25 January 2023 at 18:00 (UK time). We’ll review your application and if we think you are on course to meet our basic entry requirements, we’ll ask you to submit some information about relevant experience and aspirations.

You will need the following codes to apply:

  • UCAS course code: W4F0
  • UCAS institution code: LIVIN
  • UCAS institution number: L48

Please note that applications for this course received after 25 January are unlikely to be considered.

Applicants outside the UK can either apply via our online portal or via UCAS. Applications open in early September and there is no deadline for applications. However, you should be aware that the majority of audition events take place in February and March and places begin to fill up after this time so applying by 25 January is advisable.

What happens after I have applied?

Our assessment of your application

We’ll review your application and if we think you are on course to meet our educational entry requirements, we'll invite you to progress to the first stage of our two-stage audition process.

If you live overseas, we will invite you to submit a self-tape, following our guidelines, which you will receive via email after we have assessed your application. We may then arrange to invite you to an online recall audition before we make a decision about whether or not to offer you a place. If we are arranging auditions in your country or a country near to you, we will invite you to one of those events and will send you our overseas guidelines.

At all stages of the audition process we may consider you for any of the following undergraduate Acting courses:

  • BA (Hons) Acting (Musical Theatre)
  • BA (Hons) Acting (Screen)
  • CertHE Foundation Acting (Stage & Screen)

There is no audition fee for any stage of our audition process (travel grants are available and are applied automatically, if you live in an eligible postcode).

Preparing for the first stage audition

We will email you the relevant audition guidelines to help you prepare yourself. You can find the guidelines in the download below for our in-person first stage auditions held in Liverpool.

BA Acting (Stage and Screen), Cert HE Acting (Stage and Screen) First Stage Audition Guidelines for 2023 entry

We understand how nerve-wracking the prospect of auditioning can be, so please read your guidelines carefully. Being able to follow instructions is an important part of being a performer.

Remember we’re interested in finding out about you as an individual, so please try to relax, be yourself and enjoy the day.

After the first stage audition

We do not tell you the outcome of your audition on the day itself. We will let you know if we are inviting you to the recall audition with plenty of time to prepare. We usually do this via email.

If you have been unsuccessful at the first stage audition, we will inform you via UCAS, our applicant portal and email. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, if you are not successful we are unable to offer feedback.

Recall auditions

A selection of candidates will be asked to come back at a later date for a recall audition. The full recall guidelines will be emailed to all invited to a recall.

Communicating our decision after the recall auditions

We aim to let you know a decision within three working weeks of your recall audition. Unfortunately, it can take longer than this sometimes – please do not assume that you have been unsuccessful if you have not heard from us – it may be that we are still making decisions. If you have any concerns about the status of your application, you are welcome to contact our admissions team at admissions@lipa.ac.uk.

When we audition you, we may consider you for other Acting programmes (including our Foundation Certificate course), so it’s possible we might make you an offer for an alternative course to the one that you originally applied for.

Our decision will be final. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, if you are unsuccessful, we are unable to offer feedback. In many cases, a lack of success is due to the level of competition for places, rather than a specific personal weakness.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many courses can I apply to?

On your UCAS form, you can apply for up to five choices. You are welcome to apply for more than one degree course here but this will count as another one of your five choices. If you are an international student, you can apply directly to us for more than one course.

What happens if I miss the deadline for applying?

There is a high demand for places, so if you miss the deadline for your course, please contact our Admissions team at admissions@lipa.ac.uk. If you are an international student you are not bound by the UCAS deadline and we will be happy to consider your direct application after this date, please contact international@lipa.ac.uk for more information.

Can I defer entry?

We do not accept applications for deferred entry. However, there are exceptional circumstances when we will consider this, such as cases of compulsory military service for international students.

I have a learning difficulty or disability, will this affect my application?

We value diversity and will welcome your application. If you would like to request a reasonable adjustment as part of the audition/interview process, please contact the Admissions Manager to discuss this. Email admissions@lipa.ac.uk or call +44 (0)151 330 3084.

How much does it cost to apply via UCAS?

The application fee for submitting an application through UCAS for 2023 entry is £27.00 if applying to more than one university course, or £22.50 for one university choice.

What are the course codes to use on my UCAS application?

Each degree programme has a code number and abbreviation. For our CertHE Foundation Acting (Stage & Screen) these are W4F0, CHE / FASS. LIPA's institution code is LIVIN. Our institution number is L48.

Do I have to pay an audition fee?

There is no audition fee for this course. We offer a travel grant scheme for UK applicants who come from areas where participation in Higher Education is traditionally low. This is based on postcode data, so all eligible candidates, who we wish to invite to an audition will be automatically offered the travel grant (if applicable).
