Acting graduates Jamie Lloyd (2002) and Jak Malone (2018) have been nominated for Tony Awards.
The awards recognise excellence in Broadway theatres in New York City. Jamie is shortlisted for Best Direction of a Musical for Sunset Boulevard while Jak is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Operation Mincemeat.
Jak says it’s an honour to be nominated. “To receive this level of industry recognition is so wonderful. Broadway was always what I felt like I was working towards, so to be here with a show I’ve put my whole heart into is a real-life dream come true.
“I’m floored and humbled by the warmth, openness and generosity of the Broadway community.”
Operation Mincemeat (John Golden Theatre, New York) is up for a total of four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Sunset Boulevard (St James Theatre, New York) has seven nominations including Best Revival of a Musical. The ceremony for the Tony Awards 2025 takes place on 8 June.
Both shows transferred to Broadway following successful West End productions. In 2024 Jamie won the Olivier for the Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director while Jak received the Olivier for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
