Four graduates from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) have been nominated for a Music Producers Guild (MPG) Award.
Cameron Gower Pool (Sound Technology, 2011) is short listed for Vocal Producer of the Year, Rich Turvey (Sound Technology, 2008) is up for Writer-Producer of the Year, Mike Halls (Music, 2009) is nominated for Self Producing Artist for his work with Clean Cut Kid, while Tom Longworth (Sound Technology, 2009) along with Rich Turvey, has been included in the Album of the Year nomination for Rachel Chinouriri's What a Devastating Turn of Events with Rich producing the album and Tom mixing it.
The Music Producers Guild is run and supported by producers, mixers, recording engineers, re-mixers and programmers who are passionate about all aspects of making and recording music. Now in its 17th year, the MPG awards celebrate the best of UK music production talent working behind the scenes in the British music industry.
Jon Thornton is Director of the School of Creative Technologies, Design and Enterprise at LIPA and taught Cameron, Rich and Tom. He says: “Cameron and Rich are now regulars at the MPG Awards which is testament to the continued excellence of their work, while I’m particularly pleased to see Tom start to get the recognition he deserves.
“That they - and Mike - continue to thrive some 14 to 17 years after they graduated is testament to how LIPA prepares students for sustained careers in the performing and creative arts.”
LIPA Sound Technology graduates to have previously won an MPG Award include Caesar Edmunds, Tarek Musa and Matt Taylor. The MPG 2025 Awards take place on 24 April at The Troxy, London.
