LIPA Music graduate releases new single, 'Roam'

LIPA music graduate and singer-songwriter Tabi Gervis has released her latest single, Roam.

Roam marks a new chapter in Tabi’s songwriting, both thematically and creatively. “Roam is all about self-reassurance and trusting our own two feet to move you in the right direction,” she explains, describing it as “the more confident big sister” to her earlier track Twenty-Two Parade

“I began writing Roam in December of 2024, I wanted to manifest a feeling of self-confidence,” she says. “I was definitely in a place of comparison and worry - a place a lot of us independent artists find ourselves very often.” That mindset shaped both the message and the sound of the track. “I imagined myself waking up and seeing the world through a glowey lens, trusting the words I’m putting out into the universe and allowing the universe to take me on the right path AND I obviously wrapped it all up in a groovy pop box that a head-bop can’t deny because it wouldn’t be a Tabi Gervis song without it!”

Alongside the music itself, collaboration has played a key role in bringing the release to life. Tabi has worked closely with fellow LIPA graduate designer Keshi Raghu across multiple projects. “I collaborate with Keshi Raghu on all of my visuals and promotional material for many of my releases,” she says, adding that their creative partnership began during their time studying together.

“We were close friends all throughout our time at uni and she just makes my visual creative process so much more enjoyable,” Tabi continues. “I think promo is something that a lot of artists struggle with - making yourself a brand is HARD! But when you have someone you can creatively bounce off to make it fun and exciting it massively takes the pressure off, that’s what Keshi is to me.”

She credits her time at LIPA with encouraging that mindset. “Studying at LIPA showed me how important it is to collaborate in unexpected ways,” she reflects. “If I had never had my time at LIPA there I would’ve never met Keshi who is now not only one of my lifelong friends but she will also be a creative partner throughout my career in music. As someone who is a songwriter first and foremost collaborating with a designer to bring my artist vision to life was one of the best things I could’ve done for my music,” she says.

Looking ahead, Tabi is continuing to build on the momentum of Roam. “I have a few more groovy releases planned for the rest of the year,” she says, “and I hope to be back in Liverpool for a show sometime soon!”
