LIPA Dancers join Wired Aerial for international Opera Festival

Two Dancers from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) have joined Wired Aerial Theatre to perform at the prestigious Bregenz Opera Festival (Bregenzer Festspiele) in Austria.

The Bregenz Opera Festival started in 1946 and takes place on a floating stage on Lake Constance. It regularly attracts over 200,000 people from across Europe during its month-long run, with this year's event taking place from 17 July to 18 August.

Chelsea Breeze, who graduates in July, and Augustine Mony, who’s just completed their second year, will be joining a company of 31 performers for a production of Der Freischütz. It will be Chelsea’s first performance since completing her studies. She says: “I am so thrilled to kick off my professional career in Der Freischütz.

“Performing in front of 7000 people is both really exciting and a bit surreal. I can't wait to bring my passion and energy to the stage!”

Wired Aerial Theatre is a pioneering aerial performance company with an international reputation for innovative and spectacular productions. Based in Liverpool, it has been training LIPA’s Dance students in the Institute’s specialist aerial studio for the last 10 years.

Second-year Augustine Mony is looking forward to working with Wired Aerial. "Joining Wired Aerial Theatre for the Der Freischütz run in Bregenz is an incredible opportunity.

“I’m particularly excited about the chance to integrate what I’ve learned during the modules taught by Wired at LIPA and I can't wait to be part of this amazing production."

Rehearsals in Austria are underway with early performances of Der Freischütz already selling out.
