Students can now graduate with industry-recognised audio certification from leading manufacturer L-Acoustics as part of new partnership.
Founded in 1984 and with a reputation for innovation, L-Acoustics supplies sound systems to more than 13,000 venues worldwide, including major international music festivals.
Chris Layton, a senior Sound Technology lecturer and live sound specialist at LIPA, is now a certified L-Acoustics trainer. Chris says the collaboration will have many benefits for students. “We’re very proud to become a certified L-Acoustics training partner. Many of the companies our students aspire to work with use L-Acoustics systems. Graduating with recognised certifications gives them a clear advantage and strengthens their employability.
“This partnership also expands our curriculum, giving students hands-on experience while encouraging them to critically engage with different systems.”
The partnership is part of L-Acoustic's Education Partner Program, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic audio education and professional practice. The program partners with leading universities worldwide to integrate L-Acoustics professional training and certification into academic curricula, helping to ensure students graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical, industry-recognised expertise.
Katerina Panagopoulou is an educational specialist with L-Acoustic and spent four days at LIPA in March delivering training with Chris Layton. Katerina enjoyed working with the students: “They were highly engaged, curious, and excited to learn. They weren’t just following along, they were really involved, asking thoughtful questions, challenging ideas, and often digging into the ‘why’.
“That kind of enthusiasm makes all the difference, and it honestly made the whole experience really rewarding for me. It’s exactly the mindset we love to see in the next generation of professionals.”
