Autumn/Winter Season of public performances 2026/27

Our Autumn/Winter Season of public performances is a great opportunity for audiences to experience what the next generation of storytellers has to offer.
An eclectic and exciting mix, it includes feel-good musical dance revue, Sunny with a Chance of Rain; a contemporary re-imagining of a classic morality tale, Everybody; two dramas centred on complex family dynamics, Till the Stars Come Down and The Hills of California; a sliding-doors, ska inspired musical, Our House; our ever-popular Christmas Concert, again at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall; a club culture inspired exhibition, Welcome to the Club and the 1940s Hollywood based musical, City of Angels.
The season is presented by our Acting, Dance, Filmmaking, Management, Music, Musical Theatre, Sound Technology, Theatre & Performance Design and Theatre & Production Technology students. They, in collaboration with some of the industry’s brightest creatives, will deliver every aspect of our shows. It provides them with the opportunity to use and extend their skills in a real-world setting.

SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN
5-7 November
A fast-paced, feel-good musical dance revue that features a mix of musical theatre favourites and pop anthems performed with a live band.
Packed with energy, humour and dazzling choreography, Sunny with a Chance of Rain is a piece of uplifting escapism designed to leave audiences smiling, singing and dancing long after the curtain falls.

EVERYBODY
5-7 November
When death comes calling, who would stand beside you?
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Everybody is a bold, contemporary reimagining of the 15th-century morality play Everyman.
It blends sharp humour and unexpected twists as an ordinary person goes on an extraordinary journey to meet God and take stock of their life.

One wedding. One family. Countless secrets waiting to spill.
Beth Steel's Till the Stars Come Down mixes warmth, wit and emotional intensity as a summer celebration slowly unravels.
When the music stops and the truth comes out, what will be left standing?

OUR HOUSE

A single choice on one unforgettable night creates two futures, each revealing a different version of the life that might have been.
Featuring the music of Madness, Our House is an actor-musician production bursting with the energy of British 2-Tone ska.
A dynamic celebration of identity, opportunity and the roads we choose to follow.

LIPA Christmas Concert

Celebrate the festive season with a magical evening of Christmas classics, carols and seasonal favourites spanning the ages.
Our most popular show of the year, this annual feel-good concert brings together the full breadth of LIPA's musical talent. Featuring the LIPA Big Band, strings, choirs, vocalists and dancers, it's a spectacular celebration of the season for the whole family.

CITY OF ANGELS
10-12 December
When fiction and reality collide, the lines between creator and creation begin to disappear.
Set in 1940s Hollywood, City of Angels shifts seamlessly between the glamorous Technicolor world of a struggling screenwriter and the shadowy black-and-white of his hard-boiled detective.
As the two worlds become impossible to separate, who is really writing whose story?

WELCOME TO THE CLUB

Created by Theatre Design and Production Technology students, this immersive exhibition of installations and miniature sets celebrates the clubs, cabarets and creative refuges that have inspired generations of artists, from Weimar Berlin and Harlem to Manchester's Haçienda and Liverpool's Eric's and Cream.
Discover how these legendary venues became places of experimentation, belonging and cultural revolution.

THE HILLS OF CALIFORNIA
11-13 February
A family home filled with memories becomes the stage for a reunion where the past refuses to stay buried.
In The Hills of California, the Webb sisters return to Blackpool in the sweltering summer of 1976, as their mother lies seriously ill upstairs, long-suppressed dreams, disappointments and rivalries begin to surface.
Tender, funny and deeply moving, the story of what happens when the stories a family tells itself can no longer hold everything together.
