Led by LIPA staff, students and graduates, these sessions will give you valuable insight into professional training and auditions — along with the tools, confidence, and understanding to take your next step as a performer.

Booking is essential. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

BOOK NOW

We value diversity and would particularly welcome attendance from students from ethnically diverse backgrounds, care leavers and students who receive free school meals. For those in receipt of free school meals, we can provide bursaries to assist with travel costs.

Workshops

We will be offering a How to Self-Tape workshop and two discipline-specific workshops in Acting and Musical Theatre Dance (these run at the same time, so you can only attend one).

How to Self-Tape

Self-tapes are now a standard part of the audition process for drama schools, agents, and professional work. Mastering this skill is essential — but how do you make your tape stand out? In this practical workshop, you’ll learn how to approach self-taping with confidence, from technical set-up and framing to delivering a compelling performance on camera. You’ll leave with the tools to showcase your talent effectively and make a strong impression in any self-tape audition.

Discipline workshops

Acting Taster Workshop
Thinking about applying to drama school or professional actor training? This workshop offers a focused introduction to some of the core skills you’ll need. Beginning with a physical and vocal warm-up, you’ll explore storytelling through improvisation, ensemble play, and devised scene work. The session is designed to give you a practical insight into the demands of actor training, while helping you develop confidence, creativity, and presence.

Musical Theatre Dance Workshop
Considering drama school or professional musical theatre training? This workshop introduces you to the discipline and energy of musical theatre dance. After a physical warm-up, you’ll learn a routine in a West End style, focusing not only on technical precision but also on storytelling, musicality, and performance quality. The session gives you a taste of the expectations in training and auditions, while building confidence, stage presence, and expressive clarity.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel the in-person event at short notice, we may not be able to refund any expenses you have incurred relating to attending the event (such as travel or accommodation costs), so please consider this when making your travel arrangements.
