LinkedIn Learning is a huge resource of online video courses taught by industry experts in creative, business and software skills. Alex Spiers is LIPA’s Technology Enhanced Learning Project Manager, he says: “This is a real investment in our students. The content is mobile friendly and can be used to quickly learn core business, IT and digital literacy skills. It also has a wide range of other skills essential for our graduates to succeed, such as empathy skills, digital promotion and web building.”
Alongside LinkedIn Learning, LIPA is also introducing Panopto which is a recording, streaming and storage platform for recording presentations, storing student-generated content and supporting video and audio-based assessment.
These additional services and the overhaul of LIPA’s virtual learning environment Moodle have been made thanks to a £3.87m project funding grant from HEFCE to help LIPA expand its curriculum and transform its learning facilities.
The revamped Moodle, which will be simpler to use and faster, along with LinkedIn Learning and Panopto will be available to all students and staff from September. Alex says: “This will provide students with a 21st century digital experience to support and enhance their learning.
“Ultimately this will help their employability. They will have access to the tools and opportunities to enhance their digital literacy and collaboration skills, as well as improve their ability to use digital video to promote themselves and their expertise.”
