LAMAs award ceremony celebrates next generation of film talent

The LAMAs (the LIPA Annual Media Awards) came to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic last night to celebrate creativity, innovation and technical excellence in filmmaking.

The annual awards ceremony recognises exceptional students from across all years of our BA (Hons) Filmmaking & Creative Technologies course.

The big winner on the night was Method Men, a feature expertly replicating the tone and cinematographic styles of a broad range of genres, from film noir to sci-fi, via war epic, dance off, TV sitcom, silent farce, video game, and more. The film’s creative team - Jack Cowls, Jude Airy, Keith Hyland, Matt Jones, Charlie Ball and Jay Turner – took home the Best Film and the coveted Golden LAMA awards.

Reflecting on the awards, Dr Steven Davies, Head of Filmmaking and Creative Technologies at LIPA, said:

The calibre of work we’ve seen this year is exceptional. There is provocative, profound, stirring, and hilarious filmmaking being produced by our talented students working at the peak of their discipline. They’ve created fantastic work together and have collaborated far and wide. Watching these films truly inspires us all to go out and create.

Congratulations to all the LAMA nominees and winners.
