The uncertainty, that we are all too familiar with, makes forward planning conditional. However, like every other higher education institution, we plan learning years in advance.
Ever since the UK went into lock down, we have been discussing and reviewing, what teaching and learning here will be for our next 2020-21 teaching year with some 60 UK based organisations.
It is our firm intention to start, as planned, this coming September. This intention applies to every student at whatever level of study.
We are preparing for blended learning (which means a blend of on-line and face-to-face), which will inevitably vary between the disciplines we teach. We are also taking the informed advice to reduce the risk of catching the virus. We will be stringent about this.
Our Open Days
Our Open Days in September will be taking place online. They will feature live subject talks, a chance to get questions answered and see some of buildings and facilities. Dates are yet to be confirmed, but you can confirm your interest here.
Widening Access, Recruitment and Outreach
All face-to-face recruitment and outreach activities have been suspended until September. However, the majority of these have been successfully moved online. Highlights have included Q&As for sixth-form students on tackling stage fright, the realities of working in the performing arts and audition techniques. And a calming yoga session, one of the many resources made available to schools during Mental Health Awareness week, that attracted 70 participants. Our year 9 tasters and summer projects for Year 10 to 12 students (Summer Xperience, Summer Engage, Get Set and Get Ready) will go ahead online. Information about our outreach activities can be found here.
LIPA 4-19
We have cancelled all LIPA 4-19 sessions until September including our summer school. For information about the Weekend Academies, please head to the LIPA 4-19 website.
At present our building and facilities are closed to students.
Our Ongoing Actions
We have a team monitoring and managing what happens next.
We will update our advice as new UK government and Public Health England guidance emerges, as well as international actions with the lessons we can learn from them.
We are grateful to our staff and students for all their cooperation, help and support throughout this period. Please find some key documents for relevant groups below:
